24-HOUR CRISIS HOTLINE

The First Step Toward Change

Making a call is the first step to making change and creating a life free of violence and abuse.

The Hotline is answered 24 hours a day by a trained advocate who provides support and explains options to those experiencing domestic abuse.

If you feel your relationship is unhealthy or abusive or are concerned for a loved one in an abusive relationship, please call the Hotline. We are here 24 hours a day to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment to express your feelings and concerns. Our priority is always your safety and well-being. Services are confidential, and you may remain anonymous if you wish.

The information our Hotline advocates provide will allow you to make informed and confident choices about your next steps.

The Hotline also welcomes calls from professionals working with clients who are victims of domestic violence and need guidance or support in providing the best care possible.

Help can be reached 24 hours a day at 217-243-4357.

Emergency Shelter

Domestic violence is the third leading cause of homelessness.

We provide emergency and short-term shelter for adults and their dependent children fleeing domestic violence. To inquire about shelter, call the Center’s 24-hour crisis hotline at 217-243-4357.

Our shelter was designed to meet basic safety and daily living needs. While in the shelter, you will work with one of our advocates on safety planning education, emotional support, crisis intervention, and goal planning. Our in-house shelter services include the following:

Case Management

An advocate is assigned to each resident to assist in developing a service plan to meet the immediate needs of them/their family. The advocate assists the resident in meeting their goals by assisting with securing resources such as employment and housing.

Counseling

Individual and group counseling is available for residents and their children.

Support Groups

Groups are essential to our process here at the shelter; this is where residents and their children can share common experiences, fears, and hopes. This enables participants to understand that they are not alone and that they can change their lives for the better.

Legal Advocacy

Legal Advocates are available to shelter residents to assist in obtaining Orders of Protection and other rights available under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act.

Maintaining your privacy and safety is of the utmost importance. The Crisis Center Foundation strives to create a welcoming, safe place for you to transition into a life free from abuse.

Counseling

It is estimated that a woman will leave an abusive relationship 7 times before she is able to leave for good.

The Crisis Center Foundation provides several trauma-informed supportive counseling services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

Individual Counseling for Adults and Children

Adult counseling is designed to be crisis-oriented, focusing on safety planning and issues related to your experience. You will work with an advocate to establish personal goals. Children’s counseling is designed to enhance the psychological well-being of both our child and adolescent clients. You and your child will complete assessments to help identify the issues at hand and develop appropriate goals for counseling.

Support Groups

Crisis Center Foundation has an ongoing open support group for clients. This group is designed to educate and support survivors while they work on healing from the trauma of domestic violence. Childcare for under the age of four is available.

Children’s Group Services

While adults are attending the support group, their children can attend their own group focusing on various issues. This group is for children ages five and up.
